AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF STATE GENERAL FUNDS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR FISCAL YEARS 1999 AND 2000.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Department of Environmental Quality for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the department for the period beginning upon passage and through June 30, 2000 $ 650,000.00.

SECTION 2. This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of providing Three Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00) to support on-going efforts to determine the total maximum daily loads (TMDL) of pollution of impaired waters and related expenses in the Surface Water Quality Program, and Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) to support the Air Quality 105 Program for work in the non-attainment areas of DeSoto County and the Gulf Coast.

SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and through June 30, 2000.
